lovely autumn

I know I will have raved before about how I love Autumn, my favourite season. After a morning of struggle, I treated myself to not just one, or even two, but three bunches of dahlias. To my mind, there's something very old fashioned about dahlias, I don't know why I associate them with the 60s but I do, and I love them!!!! A fiver incredibly well spent as I now have 4 vases full and brightening my entire home :D

My boy has now had a year of drumming lessons. Each week I've enjoyed a little bit of time to myself sat outside his lesson. Sometimes working, sometimes doing a rare spot of daytime reading, sometimes catching up with friends by text. Tonight, for the first time I took the dog and thought I'd explore the lane just beyond where I usually park. What a delight!!! I could berate myself for missing out on a whole year of walking, but what would be the point in that? Instead I thoroughly enjoyed the newness and the wilderness and the gorgeous September light. And I saw more blackberries than I ever have before and so when my boy came out of drumming I asked if he wanted to go and pick some.

A wonderful counter to such unusual lavish spending on myself earlier, we then harvested some free hedgerow goodies which I'll hopefully convert to a pie tomorrow.

An evening of unexpected joy - I hope you also have found loveliness in amongst whatever your day brought. I have an early start tomorrow - I've remembered that I'm picking up my colleague to take her into work. And so I'm already organised by blogging the night before (shame having breakfast doesn't work the same way...)
